France has a cultural policy with a network of over 430 establishments (Institutes and French Cultural Centers and Alliances Françaises) in 150 countries. This large network which is evolving constantly, has numerous missions that makes it a unique cultural mediator in the world.
Organizing cultural and artistic events, the cultural centers aim to promote the main streams of contemporary French creations and to present France's ideas throughout the world. These cultural centers offer many services, from French language courses to media centers (or libraries) and are true information centers about France today, its' history and the real everyday life. Open to the public and to other cultures, the cultural centers are important links for cooperations.
The four Cultural centers in Indonesia (Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung and Yogyakarta) have become sort of like "toolboxes" where students, scientists, passionates of art and culture can find what they need for a better understanding of the world's future.
